Bach – Double Violin Concerto in D minor 2nd movement, Largo

August 1, 2010

Title : Johann Sebastian Bach, Double Violin Concerto in D minor (2nd movement, Largo Ma Non Tanto (BWV 1043) From Wikipedia , The Concerto for Two Violins in D minor (BWV 1043) is perhaps one of the most famous works by JS Bach and considered among the best examples of the work of the late Baroque period. Bach wrote it in Leipzig sometime between 1730 and 1731, most likely for the Leipzig Collegium Musicum, of which he was the director. It also exists in an arrangement for two harpsichords, transposed into C minor (BWV 1062). In addition to the two soloists, the concerto is scored for strings and basso continuo. The concerto is characterized by the subtle yet expressive relationship between the violins throughout the work. The musical structure of this piece uses fugal imitation and much counterpoint. The concerto comprises three movements: Vivace Largo ma non tanto Allegro

    @kimberlily1983 look up prokofiev piano sonata no. 4 mvt. 2, piano concerto no. 2 movement. 2. Those are the saddest songs I’ve ever heard.
    A lot of shostakovich and mosolov is great to get out anger, because it’s the most climatic music I can think of.Also look up scriabin etude no. 42, movement. 3. If you can find horowitz performing it’s amazing. Mahler symphony no. 9, first movement. Most beautiful thing you would ever hear, I promise you that. Most of this style classical is boring i agree

    @wddenis3 unless they come up with “Classical Band”

    @AliProductions2 haha Im a faggot and uh yeah

    @kimberlily1983 … it tends to be one-sided: to be too “neat” to express all the elements of life. Artists like Schnauss, and some of BoC, get to it all: the complexity, the happiness, the sadness, the inspiration, the vulnerability… Everything.

    So, please, let’s not lump all modern music together. In my opinion, there exists modern music that surpasses classical music in depth and beauty.

    Myself, I like classical music for how beautiful it is, but it takes second place to ambient/electronica pieces like those by Ulrich Schnauss. Classical is simple, good for studying, good for clarity of thinking and concentration, but when I want something that really moves me I play something like the end of Boards of Canada’s ‘Happy Cycling’, or Ulrich Schnauss’s ‘Monday Paracetamol’. Classical tends to lack that emotion and depth, in my opinion (with the exception of Erik Satie)…

  22. longboardskater7

    @x10secsx You’ll be the one under pressure when everyone you call “nerds” is successful in this new society that has taken root and begun to grow. It’s a new age, a more advanced age in which technology is the most dominant factor. Good luck surviving.

  23. ArkReaction

    @x10secsx
